I believe in making art for self-expression, fostering communication, and navigating intense emotions. Art therapy is a form of exploration that incorporates the mind, body, and spirit. The art can become the third person with a message or alternate perspective to provide. As a trained Art Therapist, I aim to provide a safe, non-judgmental, and interactive space for you to heal. My passion is to provide individuals with coping skills to practice and introduce into their life that may reduce stress and improve their overall life experience.

I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Counseling and Art Therapy at PennWest Edinboro University. My approach to art therapy has been cultivated over the course of my career as an educator, where my work as both an elementary school art teacher and summer camp counselor has emphasized the importance of creating in a safe environment.
I believe that anyone, at any age, can benefit from art therapy. I aim to provide clients with tools to explore and process aspects of themselves and their needs through creative expression that may not otherwise be readily accessible. Creating — whether individually or through community — is a powerful form of self-expression and self discovery. My practice centers that belief and provides clients with a safe and supportive space to foster growth.

I have a BFA in ceramic sculpture and was a full time sculptor until later in life when I earned my Master’s in Art Therapy and Counseling. My unique life experiences affect my beliefs, including growing up in a small farming town and living my adult life in cities and suburbs. With my husband and children, I have traveled the world, lived in another country, and been intimately involved in other cultures. I am engaged and appreciate the diversity and wisdom that all age and gender groups offer. I regularly require immersion in nature and creative expression, influencing my love of hiking, gardening, sculpting, and other forms of art-making. I believe being creative is a part of being human. Our creativity needs a form of expression not related to perfection but to exploration that sometimes involves accepting and appreciating the imperfection that makes us human.

Hi, I’m Cait (she/her)! I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Counseling - Art Therapy at PennWest University. Previously, I worked in education for 6+ years, primarily with teenage English Language Learners. I am a mixed media artist and especially love creating art with flowers and other natural materials. I see art-making as an opportunity to tap into the inherent benefits of creativity and build connections with the self and others. Creating art can facilitate storytelling, make space to express a wide range of emotions, and empower us to envision different possibilities for our futures.
I believe art can play a powerful role in processing and healing both personal and collective trauma. My approach to art therapy is trauma-informed and grounded in a holistic understanding of wellness - taking into account the mind-body connection, the health of our relationships and communities, and the effects of systemic injustices. I strive to embody cultural humility and hold awareness of oppressive systems through an intersectional lens. I celebrate the diversity of humanity and stand for collective liberation, for folks of all races, genders, sexualities, and abilities to live safe and full lives.
I look forward to making art and processing life together. I hope to serve as a guide and source of encouragement as we co-create spaces of genuine connection, healing, and growth.
